I had a conversation recently with a client about where her wedding photos were going in her house.

Not which one she was posting.

Not which one would get the most likes.

We were talking about which wall. Which room. What she’d see every single day when she walked past it.

And I loved that.

Because that tells me we’re aligned.

There’s nothing wrong with posting your photos. I’m not anti-Instagram. But if that’s the only plan for them, you’re missing the bigger picture.

As a New Orleans family photographer, I’m not creating images just for your feed. I’m creating images that live in your home.

Be Honest: Why Are You Booking Photos?

When families book a session, I always wonder — what’s the real goal?

Is it:

  • A new profile picture?
  • A holiday post?
  • An announcement?

Or is it something that will still matter 15 years from now?

Instagram is temporary. Your home is not.

Your kids don’t scroll your grid.

They walk past your hallway.

They sit in your living room.

They flip through albums on your coffee table.

That’s where your photos should live.

The Question I Ask Every Client

Before we ever talk about outfits, I ask:

Where is this going in your house?

Because that changes everything.

If it’s going above your couch, it needs to be large enough to actually look good there.

If it’s for your bedroom, it needs to feel connected and calm.

If it’s going into an album, we need more than one good photo — we need a story.

That’s the difference between booking photos for social media and booking photos for your home.

Why Printing Your Family Photos Matters

There’s actual research behind this — children who see family photos displayed in their home tend to have a stronger sense of belonging and identity.

But honestly, you don’t need a study to tell you that.

You feel it when you walk into a home with framed photos on the wall.

It feels lived in.

It feels rooted.

It feels intentional.

Professional family photography isn’t just about having pretty images.

It’s about preserving your family’s story in a tangible way.

As a family photographer in New Orleans, my goal is always to create images that don’t just look good online — they look powerful printed and displayed.

What I’m Thinking About During Your Session

While you’re laughing, fixing hair, and wrangling kids, I’m thinking about:

  • Which images you’ll want to see every day.
  • Which ones would look strong framed large.
  • Which moments your grandchildren will one day pull off a shelf and flip through.

Yes, you can post it.

But I’m thinking about who inherits it.

That’s legacy.

If We’re Aligned, You Already Know

If your only goal is likes, I might not be the right fit. And that’s okay.

But if you care about:

  • Printing your photos
  • Filling your walls with your family
  • Creating albums that get passed down
  • Preserving this season intentionally

Then we’re probably aligned.

If you’re looking for a New Orleans family photographer who helps you think beyond Instagram and create something that actually lives in your home, I’d love to talk.

Because these moments deserve more than a double tap.

They deserve a place on your wall.
